The 2016 Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce Clambake was a phenomenal event. Approximately 800 members enjoyed a delicious spread put together by Chef Ken, the executive chef at Hollywood Casino. This year's event was presented by PNC and hosted by Hollywood Casino.
2016 EPIC Toledo T-Town Dash
Nearly 100 young professionals explored downtown last Thursday Night and had a blast experiencing local businesses and the Art Loop. Participants met artists at the Shared Lives Studio and enjoyed 10 cent hot dog night at Packo’s at the Park. They enjoyed drinks at local hotspots like The Blarney, Durty Bird, and Cock N’ Bull, and visited iconic downtown locations such as the Huntington Center, Fifth Third Field, and the Library. Their challenge? To navigate their clues successfully and support as many local businesses as possible along the way! From pedicabs to dancing with street performers, it was a fun filled night that wrapped up with an after party and prizes at M’ Osteria. View the entire photo gallery below. By: Emily Dammeyer, Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce Video Design: Ellen Dziubek This past Sunday, Chamber employees had a great time volunteering at the 2016 Toledo Air Show. From meeting the public, to enjoying spectacular displays from the U.S. Air Force Thunder Birds and the Army Golden Nights, all staff had an excellent experience. This was a wonderful opportunity for the Chamber to show our support for the 180th Fighter Wing and thank the men and women of the armed forces for their service to our country.
The Chamber's Communications Manager had the opportunity to meet the Golden Knights just minutes after they landed at the Toledo Express Airport on Friday morning. Staff Sgt. Kenneth Severin, who has been with the Golden Knights for 4 years, shared his excitement to be in Toledo. "We are excited to be here performing in the Toledo Air Show. I hear its the first air show that Toledo has had in 11 years and we're honored to be a part of it." Updates from the June Focus on Business LunchBy: Emily Dammeyer, Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce Colonel Craig A. Baker, Commander, Ohio Air National Guard 180th Fighter Wing, was the headline speaker at our June Focus on Business Lunch. Preceded by short presentations from the Regional Growth Partnership, the Toledo Small Business Development Center, and the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, attendees received a complete briefing on the economic progress of the Toledo Region, from microlending to foreign investment and defense. The event was hosted in the beautiful GlasSalon at the Toledo Museum of Art Glass Pavilion.
By: Colleen Kardasz, Director, Ohio SBDC Export Assistance Network When I was leaving Germany just about one month ago I overheard a number of conversations with fellow travelers who had also been attending the Hannover Messe Trade Fair. I had spent some time talking with the six companies who had attended with the Ohio Export Assistance Network and the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce, and wondered if there might be a trend among the American companies who attended this show for the first time. I openly admit to having eavesdropped on a number of conversations in each airport. While in no way a scientific study, I did notice a common theme. I kept hearing American companies say “It was a great show. We had a wonderful week, met a lot of people, but we’re not sure if we’ll go back.” I was troubled by this response. Why would a company who could sit and rave about a trade show and all it had to offer still be ambivalent about returning? The answer, I think, has more to do with culture than the show itself. |
