Welcome to the Chamber
Stephen Vasquez, Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Lt. Col. Scott “Coma” Schaupeter, 180th Fighter Wing, were honored at the 2016 Toledo Air Show by the United States Army Golden Knights Parachute team with the “Golden Knights Baton Honor.” The two were recognized for their dedication to bringing the air show back to Toledo after a 12 year hiatus. The Golden Knights Baton is a 12 inch mahogany baton that is passed between members of the Golden Knights parachute team during their 120mph free fall at the Toledo Airshow.

Since the inception of The Biggest Week In American Birding in 2010, more people in this region are aware of birds and birding than ever before.
For those who haven’t given it much thought (or are still operating under the notion that all birdwatching is just for the Jane Hathaways of the world), it’s time to consider the benefits of birds and birding. Birds enhance the quality of our lives in myriad ways, and birding tourism is providing our area with a much-needed economic “shot in the arm” in early spring. Here are just a few reasons to consider expanding your interest in and knowledge of birds and birding.
Birds Mean Business
From the end of April to mid-May, more than 90,000 birders visit our area to take in this astounding migration spectacle.

In a ribbon cutting ceremony earlier this month, Steve Brubaker, Chief of Staff for InfoCision, expressed his excitement to be in Toledo. Nearly 100 people came out to the ceremony, including the new employees of the Toledo office, city officials, and the business partners that helped bring InfoCision to their new office: the Chamber of Commerce, the Regional Growth Partnership, JobsOhio, and Danberry Realtors. Located on S. Reynolds Rd., corporate executives raved about the help they received finding their new home and the ease of the entire process from renovations to filling their workforce.

This past Sunday, Chamber employees had a great time volunteering at the 2016 Toledo Air Show. From meeting the public, to enjoying spectacular displays from the U.S. Air Force Thunder Birds and the Army Golden Nights, all staff had an excellent experience. This was a wonderful opportunity for the Chamber to show our support for the 180th Fighter Wing and thank the men and women of the armed forces for their service to our country.
The Chamber's Communications Manager had the opportunity to meet the Golden Knights just minutes after they landed at the Toledo Express Airport on Friday morning. Staff Sgt. Kenneth Severin, who has been with the Golden Knights for 4 years, shared his excitement to be in Toledo. "We are excited to be here performing in the Toledo Air Show. I hear its the first air show that Toledo has had in 11 years and we're honored to be a part of it."
Tom Keller, founder of Keller Trucking, began his lifelong career in the logistics industry as a young boy delivering watermelons to neighboring states from the family farm. In 1978, with more experience under his belt, he refused to be brought down by the recession and took advantage of an opportunity to grow his company in Defiance, Ohio. While in Defiance, OH Tom was able to recruit his nephew and Godson, Bryan Keller, to help out during the summer months. One thing led to another and Bryan is now the CEO of Keller Logistics Group. Over time, Keller Trucking has diversified to meet local needs and is called the Keller Logistics Group, which includes trucking, warehousing and distribution, freight solutions and packaging services. In addition to logistics, Keller has developed an outreach program that specifically assists local veterans and donates resources to a number of non-profits across the world. They just opened their newest location in June and we are excited to welcome them to the Chamber community!
Last week, Chamber staff had the pleasure of attending the Fresh Thyme Farmers Market’s ribbon cutting ceremony. With a big cheer, new, local Fresh Thyme staff and many excited community members welcomed the business to the Toledo area as general manager Dustin “Dusty” Drouillard sliced through the Fresh Thyme ribbon with the aid of Stacey Mallett, VP of Marketing and Communications at the Chamber.
