When Stewart Beal went on a search for apartment buildings to buy in Michigan in 2009, he came across a number of buildings for sale in the Toledo market. His first attempted purchase was a building up for sale for $600,000, but unfortunately the deal fell through. Due to a number of interesting circumstances, Beal was able to acquire the complex from the bank just one month later.
The Toledo Area Engineers Week Committee along with the Toledo Society of Professional Engineers is pleased to announce that Daniel V. Stark, P.E. has been named the 2017 Toledo Area Engineer of the Year in recognition of his commitment to the profession. This award is presented annually to a member of the engineering community in recognition of the accomplishments and achievements that he or she has made to the engineering profession and the community. Dan is currently the senior preconstruction and operations leader for the GEM Process Solutions (GPS) team.

At our recent Focus on Business lunch, elected officials from the Toledo Region came together to discuss the potential of a regional water system. The debate of regional water system has been at the forefront of discussion among elected officials and impacts all of the businesses and residents of our community. Attendees heard from TMACOG President Tim Brown, Lucas County Sanitary Engineer Jim Shaw, City of Toledo Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson, and City of Sylvania Mayor Craig Stough on the issue.

Sixteen of our members were recognized for more than thirty awards this year at the 2017 Toledo American Advertising Awards. This year nine member projects were awarded the coveted Gold Addy, which is recognition of the highest level of creative excellence and judged to be superior to all other entries (AAFToledo.com). These entries will be immediately entered into the district competition for a chance to eventually receive national recognition. Congratulations to all!
