Government
Business advocacy is a priority for the Chamber. Our full-service Public Affairs department represents you at the local, state and national levels of government. Whether you are a small business with one employee, or a Fortune 500 company, the Chamber helps provide you with access to government.
Chamber members have the opportunity to get involved in legislative issues related to business by getting involved with the Government Affairs committee, as well as subcommittees that focus on economic development and tax policy, education, environmental policy, infrastructure and work place regulations.
Even if you don't have the time to be on a committee, the Chamber's Public Affairs department is still working for your business. Programs such as the Candidates Forum, or notices sent to membership -- including calls to action and issue alerts -- help keep you informed of the issues. In addition, when the legislature is in session, the department provides information on active legislative issues in "The Insider." Members can then contact the Chamber to voice their opinion on the issues.
"The Public Affairs department is open and accessible to the membership," said Carol Van Sickle, Vice President of Public Affairs. "Members can feel free to call with their concerns and we will bring their issues to the committees."
"There is no other forum in Toledo where businesses can become involved in legislative issues. The Public Affairs department of the Chamber is the premiere business advocate. Over 300 people from all sectors of business are currently participating on committees."
If you would like to get involved, call Carol Van Sickle at the Chamber at 419/243-8191, ext. 244, or e-mail her at carol.vansickle@toledochamber.com.
