U.S. Small Business Administration to Honor Toledo Small Business Development Center on May 19th
(Toledo, OH) The Ohio SBDC at the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce will be awarded SBA’s 2011 Small Business Development Center Service Excellence and Innovation Award during a special presentation by Gil Goldberg, District Director for the SBA’s Cleveland District office. The ceremony will take place in Toledo on Thursday, May 19th at 11:45 a.m. at the Hilton Toledo, located at 3100 Glendale Ave. The Toledo SBDC will be recognized as the top center in all of Region
V of SBA, which covers 6 Midwestern states.
The SBA Excellence and Innovation Award recognizes outstanding SBDC centers that exhibit leadership, as well as those that further develop, champion and foster innovation within the overall SBDC network. The Toledo office is being recognized for a number of innovations, most notably its ‘triage’ services to distressed businesses in the wake of the recent economic downturn.
“The economic health of a region is directly tied to the health of its small business community,” states Bill Wersell, SBDC Director. “As far as we’re concerned, there is no more important work that we could be doing right now and we’re thrilled to be recognized by the SBA for this effort.”
The center is now among a select group of finalists for the national award, which will be presented later in May during National Small Business Week.
Hosted at the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce for over twenty years, the Small Business Development Center provides free business consulting services to companies across Northwest Ohio.
