For Jared and the rest of the team at Davis, this move represents more than just a physical relocation; it’s about embracing the future of education and strengthening the connection between the university and the vibrant Toledo community.
Building Community Connections
The university’s recent ribbon-cutting event was a celebration not just of Davis University's new downtown location but of the partnerships and connections the school hopes to foster. The event brought together leaders from various sectors, highlighting the growing synergy between education and the broader Toledo community.
For Jared, the location change also opens up new avenues for students. Davis University prides itself on providing students with real-world experiences that complement their academic studies, and being downtown means there are more opportunities to collaborate with local businesses and organizations. "We want to help our students understand that learning extends beyond the classroom," Jared says. "By being in the heart of Toledo, we can connect them with internships, community service, and other hands-on learning opportunities that enrich their education and prepare them for their careers."
A Memorable First Event: Toledo Chamber Clambake
Jared's journey with the Toledo Chamber began with his first event as a new member, the 2024 Clambake, which left a lasting impression. "The Clambake was fantastic! I enjoyed the networking opportunity and meeting like-minded individuals who are a part of the Chamber," Jared recalls. The setting couldn’t have been more unique. Held at the Toledo Zoo, attendees had the chance to not only network but also feed giraffes and explore the zoo's safari section.
"The food was great, and of course, the venue was spectacular," Jared adds, noting that it was an experience unlike any other networking event he had attended. As a new member, the Clambake offered Jared a chance to connect with fellow professionals and start building relationships within the Chamber community. "I’m already looking forward to next year's Clambake!" he says with enthusiasm.
Aside from the Clambake, Jared has a personal connection to the Toledo Zoo. His favorite animal, the zoo's newest addition, baby elephant Kirkja, was a memorable sight during his most recent visit. "I was able to see her at my most recent visit before the Clambake, and she’s definitely my favorite," Jared shares.
Looking ahead, Jared is eager to continue his engagement with the Chamber. "I am looking forward to attending the Business Member Lunch in September. It’s another great opportunity to network and hear about trends and upcoming developments in Toledo." As someone deeply invested in the growth of Davis University and the community, Jared values these moments to connect with other business leaders and learn about the region's future.
Looking to the Future
As the Director of Enrollment and Engagement Management, Jared is not only focused on recruiting new students but also on ensuring they are engaged with the community and their educational journeys. "We want to provide an environment where students can thrive, academically and personally," he explains. "Our downtown presence allows us to better serve our students and give back to the community that has welcomed us with open arms."
Looking ahead, Jared and his team are eager to expand the university’s offerings, building stronger ties with Toledo’s business and nonprofit sectors. With plans to introduce new programs tailored to the evolving needs of the workforce, Davis University is committed to being a key player in the region's educational landscape.
A Personal Connection to Toledo
For Jared, Toledo isn’t just where Davis University is located—it’s home. Being part of this transformative period for both the university and the city is something he deeply values. Reflecting on the ribbon-cutting and the university’s future, Jared sums up his optimism: “This move downtown is about more than just a change of scenery; it’s about growth, connection, and a shared vision for what’s possible.”
As Davis University settles into its new downtown location, Jared Grunberg and the team are excited for what the future holds—both for the institution and for the city they call home.
