I’m originally from the Ft. Wayne area and grew up in a suburb of Cincinnati. After college I moved to Toledo and found my niche in helping others. After 14 years as the “Chief Chaos Coordinator” for 3 pint-sized bosses and “professional” volunteer I decided to return to the office.
What brought you to the Chamber?
The chance to work with people who influence, initiate, and facilitate the future of Toledo and the surrounding region. As a local school board member, I have a passion for our future in the form of students, their development, and education. At the Chamber I get to see firsthand how that comes about and the key players in production.
What do you hope to accomplish in your role at the Chamber?
To fully understand the scope of the Chamber’s capabilities, it’s potential, and to be the team member that the Chamber and our members can always depend upon to be one step ahead in connecting them and ensuring everyone is on the same page and prepared.
What do you look forward to doing in your role?
Learning about our team and its members and what they can bring to the NW Ohio community. Then, helping to make it all come together and work.
What is your proudest career achievement?
Helping a migrant student realize their dream. The student had already graduated from school in their native country and needed to fine tune English Language Arts enough to pass the State of Ohio graduation test to get their dream job at a local factory. Along the way, the family was actively pursuing citizenship and the additional standard of education their children needed to be contributing members of society.
And now to get a little more personal...
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I enjoy cooking for others, whether it’s a meal, chocolate chip cookies, or teaching someone how to make something from scratch.
What is your favorite book or movie?
Catcher in the Rye, a classic coming of age story.
What is your favorite meal or food?
If I’m not cooking, ethnic food, Indian, Korean, or Mediterranean being at the top of the list. If it’s summer, a fresh from the garden tomato sandwich.
Tell us about some of your favorite hobbies or things you are passionate about.
I enjoy hiking, traveling, visiting new places, gardening, and landscaping.
