| Last Friday, August 15, the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce had the pleasure of hosting our 2025 Summer Legislative Reception, presented by Buckeye Broadband, at the beautiful National Museum of the Great Lakes. This event brought together business leaders with elected officials for an inspiring and productive morning of networking and dialogue. |
This year’s reception was a standout—bringing together members of the Ohio General Assembly, local government, and federal and statewide representatives, including:
- U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur
- State Senators Theresa Gavarone and Paula Hicks-Hudson
- State Representatives Michele Grim, Jim Hoops, Elgin Rogers and Erika White
- Lucas County Commissioner Lisa Sobecki and Lucas County Engineer Michael Pniewski
- Toledo City Council members George Sarantou and Mac Driscoll; Sylvania City Council members Shawn Murphy and Marcus Hansen; and Rossford City Council members Caroline Eckel and Brenna Reynolds
- And Toledo School Board member, Robert Vasquez
This gathering provided a setting for candid conversation and relationship-building—giving businesses a direct line to policy-makers, and allowing legislators to better understand the challenges and opportunities shaping our regional economy.
"I love these kinds of events because we get to come in and actually connect with other people in the community that are doing the work and this is just a great opportunity to chat, discuss ideas, and also help each other along the way. So, I think this is a great opportunity for anyone who’s doing work in the community because you get to come together and become a little bit stronger in the work that we’re doing."
- Brenna Reynolds, Councilwoman, Rossford City Council
The Summer Legislative Reception, presented by Buckeye Broadband, embodies our mission to strengthen ties between the private and public sectors. By fostering meaningful dialogue, we can build a more resilient local economy, informed public policies, and greater prosperity for all in the Toledo region.
A Memorable Venue
Nestled along the Maumee River, the National Museum of the Great Lakes provided an unforgettable backdrop—offering attendees the opportunity to enjoy coffee, a light breakfast, and rich conversation surrounded by powerful displays, evocative photography, and over 300 fascinating artifacts, including the historic Col. James M. Schoonmaker ship and the Museum’s Tug Ohio.
Thank you!

"This is a great opportunity to network with other folks that are community stakeholders in Northwest Ohio, as well as get in front of elected officials that are not commonly available, and it’s a great opportunity to informally run into people that help [drive] the direction of where our community is going."
- Kyle Dodd, Business Development Manager, Rudolph Libbe Group
