| Expanding into international markets can feel like navigating a maze—there are promising opportunities all around, but between regulatory hurdles, cultural difference, marketing challenges, and logistics, many companies stall before taking off. That’s why Export Success, a training program from the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce (TRCC), in partnership with the Regional Growth Partnership and the U.S. Commercial Service, is such a game-changer for local businesses ready to go global. Here are the top reasons you should consider joining the next cohort: |
Export Success isn’t a one‐size‐fits‐all lecture series—it’s a 5-session program covering the essential foundations for exporting:
- How to develop and execute an export plan
- Legal issues, finance, banking, and international marketing
- Logistics, Incoterms, cross-cultural communication
- You’ll gain knowledge that’s immediately usable: not just theory but how to apply it to your business.
2. Support from Experts and Peer Learning
You’ll have access to:
- Mentors and experienced exporters who’ve “been there, done that”
- Experts in international markets, legal compliance, export financing, and trade documentation
- Networking with other businesses in the same shoes, which means you can learn from others’ successes and challenges. Collaboration often uncovers creative solutions.
3. Tailored Resources & Matching Services
Export Success offers tools to help you hit the ground running:
- An assessment before the first session to figure out where your company currently stands and what your needs are.
- One-on-one matchmaking and market intelligence through resources like the Gold Key Matching Service and International Partner Search to find vetted buyers, distributors or partners abroad.
4. Affordable & Financially Supported Entry
Getting started with exporting doesn’t have to break the bank:
- The program fees are $2,000 for Chamber members, $2,300 for non-members for two people from a company.
- Many companies are eligible for reimbursement through the IMAGE grant (International Market Access Grant for Exporters) from the State of Ohio. Depending on availability, this can cover up to 50% of the training cost.
5. Expand, Differentiate, and Mitigate Risk
Beyond the “how to export,” there are significant business benefits that make participating strategic:
- Open new revenue streams: reaching customers in markets outside of Ohio or the U.S. can drastically increase sales potential.
- Reduce dependence on any single market: economic swings, supply chain disruptions, or political risks in one region don’t impact you as heavily if you’re diversified.
- Gain competitive advantage: companies that export often adopt processes and innovations that make them stronger at home as well. They tend to become more resilient.
6. Who Should Attend
- Businesses that are new to exporting and want a roadmap and structure to start out right.
- Companies that already export, but want to enter new markets or optimize their current export operations—making things more efficient, reducing risk, increasing profitability.
- Not just manufacturers: service providers, “mom & pop” operations, or specialized product businesses also have export potential.
7. Where & When
- The next session runs from October 24, 2025 to February 20, 2026, with classes meeting once monthly from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
- Held by TRCC with partners RGP Northwest Ohio and the U.S. Commercial Service, meaning you get a strong local/global support structure.
