Join us as we share their stories, insights, and advice. This week, we highlight Kimberly Thompson of Kim's Kakes.
I attended cosmetology school as a young adult, earning my management degree and becoming a licensed cosmetologist. I have worked in retail sales my entire career, all while desiring to have my own company.
What were some of the barriers or obstacles you’ve faced, and how did you overcome them?
Most obstacles have been financial and space-related. I am learning to make the most of every dollar and maximize the limited space we have to work in.
Who inspired you to become a leader, and why?
I don’t know that anyone specifically inspired me to be a leader—I believe God gave me the gift of leadership.
What advice do you have for women looking to grow either their own business or within the company they work for?
I would advise any woman to never give up and always believe in herself.
How do you balance your career, personal life, and passions?
I am still working on that.
