Preparing students for successful careers takes more than classroom learning. It also takes opportunities to build professional networks, experience the community they'll soon enter and discover why Northwest Ohio is a great place to live, learn and work.

That spirit was on full display during this year's Summer in the City, presented by Owens Corning, river cruise hosted by the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce. Bringing together interns from organizations across the region, the evening gave over 70 participants the chance to unwind, connect with one another and enjoy one of Toledo's greatest views—the Glass City skyline from the Maumee River.

The University of Toledo's Neff College of Business and Innovation Graduate Programs Office was proud to partner with the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commers for an event celebrating the next generation of professionals. The event welcomed numerous UToledo students who earned internships with employers across Northwest Ohio. Seeing UToledo students connect with fellow interns through opportunities they've earned is a reminder of the important role internships play in preparing graduates for successful careers.

In her role, Patti will support both the Chamber's finance and membership functions, helping ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly while providing exceptional service to our members. ​Patti brings a unique combination of organizational expertise, customer service experience, and a genuine passion for helping others. Throughout her career, she has enjoyed roles that blend administrative support with meaningful interactions, allowing her to balance attention to detail with building strong relationships.

​Having already experienced the Chamber's culture firsthand, Patti knew it was a place where she wanted to continue her career.

Among Patti's proudest professional accomplishments isn't a single project or milestone—it's becoming someone her teammates can count on. Whether mentoring others, becoming the go-to expert on a system or process, ensuring financial details are accurate, or helping a team achieve a larger goal, Patti finds the greatest satisfaction in supporting the success of those around her.

Outside of work, Patti has a creative side that might surprise you. She originally attended school to become a court stenographer with dreams of becoming a mystery and thriller writer, hoping courtroom experiences would inspire future storylines.

Today, she's finally bringing one of those ideas to life by writing a historical fiction novel she's been researching and developing for nearly a decade. She also enjoys acrylic painting, nature photography, and curling up with a good book. Among her favorites are Where the Red Fern Grows, The Help, and Rebecca—three novels she revisits every year. And if you ask about her favorite food, don't be surprised if she tells you she'd happily eat Mexican food or ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

A lifelong Toledoan, Annsley brings a passion for public service, policy, and community engagement to her role at the Chamber. She graduated from Lourdes University in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in history and discovered her interest in government and public policy through internships with Congressman Bob Latta and former U.S. Senator Rob Portman.

"While interning in their district offices, I was immersed in the legislative process—and I was hooked," Annsley said.

Before joining the Chamber, Annsley gained experience working in her family's business, the legal field, and helping connect local communities with funding opportunities. Those experiences provided a strong foundation for the work she now does on behalf of the Toledo Region's business community.

What drew Annsley to the Chamber was the opportunity to make a direct impact on the Toledo Region's future by bringing together business leaders, community partners, and policymakers around shared priorities.

Among her proudest professional accomplishments are helping create Lake Erie West Regional Council's Legislative Briefs for the Winter General Assembly, assisting with planning, writing, and submission of a successful Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant application that secured $100,000 from the U.S. Department of Transportation for safety planning efforts, and launching the organization's bi-weekly funding newsletter, Money Talks.

When she's not working on public policy issues, Annsley enjoys spending time on the pickleball court and sharing a fun fact that often surprises people—she's a twin!

A fan of Ferris Bueller's Day Off and a self-proclaimed pasta enthusiast, Annsley brings both energy and enthusiasm to the Chamber team.

A rising junior at Bowling Green State University, Jordan is studying Professional Communication with a minor in Marketing. She's a self-described people person who loves creativity in all its forms.

"I am an out-there individual who adores talking to people," Jordan says. "If you place me in front of any art form, from painting to musical theater, I'll thrive."

That enthusiasm makes her a natural fit for event planning, one of the areas she's most excited to explore during her internship.

"I've always loved planning events, whether it's for my friends or family," she says. "Being able to play a part in planning important events like the Chamber does is my absolute dream."

Throughout the summer, Jordan hopes to learn more about where her strengths and interests can lead her professionally while helping Summer in the City interns feel connected to the Toledo community.

"I want to help other interns like me become familiar with the Toledo area so hopefully they'll return here for future opportunities."

When she's not helping with Chamber events, Jordan stays busy performing in community theater productions around Toledo, participating in improv through her university's premier team, and creating reviews of forgotten television shows.

A few fun facts about Jordan:

🎤 She can do a scarily accurate impression of Mickey Mouse.
🎬 Her favorite movie is The Truman Show, which she admires for its powerful storytelling and the unforgettable performance by Jim Carrey.

After graduation, Jordan hopes to pursue a career in event planning, social media management, or another role that allows her to combine creativity, communication, and connecting with people.

ACCE, based in Alexandria, Virginia, represents more than 1,600 chambers of commerce and related business and economic development organizations and more than 9,000 chamber professionals worldwide.

​To qualify for the Chamber of the Year competition, chambers must first meet rigorous performance benchmarks in ACCE’s Annual Chamber Operations Survey. Organizations are evaluated on key measures including financial performance, membership retention, and operational excellence. Qualifying chambers then complete a comprehensive application detailing their governance, operations, and programmatic impact. Finalists are selected through a peer-review process conducted by chamber executives from across the country.

As a finalist, TRCC will advance to the final phase of the competition, which includes an in-person interview before a panel of experienced chamber professionals during ACCE’s Annual Convention in New Orleans.

Michael joined the Chamber in 2025 with a clear mission in mind.

“I saw a great opportunity to take a leadership role in helping entrepreneurs and small businesses in our community,” he says.

That commitment to serving business owners is deeply personal. Entrepreneurship, he explains, is more than a profession — it’s part of who he is.

“Entrepreneurship is in my blood,” Michael shares. “I have many family members that have been or are small business owners. Being able to help current and prospective business owners is in my DNA.”

“The Toledo SBDC helped them navigate local regulations and connected them with area companies that provided the services they needed to become operational,” Michael says.

The result was a successful ribbon cutting and another example of how collaboration and business support services can help strengthen the regional economy.

Advice for Entrepreneurs

When asked what advice he most often gives entrepreneurs, Michael keeps it simple and practical:

“Be intentional in what you do and keep moving forward.”
