Advocacy & Public Policy: Having 2020 Vision

It’s hard to believe 2019 will come to an end in just three short weeks. Over the past year, your Advocacy and Public Policy (APP) team has been working to improve transportation infrastructure and options, provide access to elected officials and key policy makers, expand career awareness, and advocate for ways to make it easier to do business in the region.

There are a number of issues that APP will be engaging in during 2020. Issues include working with regional partners for more efficient access to central Ohio and beyond, a public transit system that serves the workforce needs of the region, and on the political front, informing about the importance of the races for the Ohio Supreme Court and potential impact on the business community.

What can APP do for you? We can:

• Advocate on behalf of our members to contain the cost of doing business by working with local, state and federal government officials to improve the business climate; 
• Be a convener to address regional problems and create opportunities for success; and
• Advise lawmakers about the impact of new laws or regulations on the region’s ability to compete in a global economy and provide jobs.

The success of the Chamber’s efforts to influence public policy is dependent upon a strong commitment by its members to participate in the process.
