On Sept. 24 at United Way of Greater Toledo, the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce and esteemed panelists discussed the benefits, barriers and difficulties surrounding fair chance hiring.

The ReEntry Development Initiative discussion, as part of the Chamber U Diversity & Inclusion Series, was paneled by Jeffrey D. Korzenik, senior vice president and chief investment strategist for Fifth Third Bank; Sarah Pawlicki, attorney for Eastman & Smith Ltd.; Lisa Bloomfield, president of Credit Adjustments, Inc.; and Matt Grafton, regional director for A Renewed Mind. The TRCC’s own Brian Dicken, MOD, IOM, vice president of advocacy and public policy, moderated the discussion.

Toledo City Council to vote on designating additional state fuel tax revenue to city for street repair

At its regular meeting scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on October 1, Toledo City Council is expected to vote on two measures related to designating additional state fuel tax revenue to the city for maintenance and repair of streets. Resolution 410-19 would declare Council’s support for designating 80 percent of increased revenue for residential streets and 20 percent for commercial neighborhood streets beginning in 2020. Ordinance 411-19 would authorize issuance of $25 million in bonds for work on the streets with debt repayment to be made over five years using the fuel tax revenue.

The Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed new communications manager Amanda DePerro to the team.

DePerro studied journalism at the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University with a minor in the Spanish language. DePerro brings her experience in journalism, public relations and marketing to the Chamber. Her experience writing and editing annual membership guides for chambers of commerce throughout central Ohio uniquely positions her to help the Toledo Chamber to continue to thrive. Before coming to the Chamber, DePerro built her own business as a freelance writer, creating website content, marketing strategies and helping to build brands for clients both local and across the country.
