The Glencoe, Ontario native acted as interim head coach for the final two months of the 2013-14 season, leading the team to a 5-13-3 record.
Watson signed as a free agent with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2000. He played seven professional seasons in the AHL, UHL, and ECHL. He played in 447 games and scored 23 goals, 66 assists, and 394 penalty minutes. He was named the 2004-05 ECHL defensive player of the year with the Long Beach Ice Dogs. Watson is married to Kim and has two daughters, Kenzi and Eilee and a son, Max.
