Until you're able to safely meet Ebony at one of the Toledo Chamber's fabulous in-person events, we invite you to learn a little bit about what makes her tick and what brought her to the Chamber and Toledo SBDC.
I’m a Toledo native, I have eight siblings, no children, but I’m a proud Auntie of… a lot of kids. :) I have a bachelor's from the University of Toledo, where I studied finance. For the past four years I worked as a financial analyst for the university in the incubation department.
2. What brought you to the Chamber?
My professional growth is very important to me and the opportunity to gain more experience while impacting people's lives was a no-brainer. I LOVE people and I truly find interest in learning about their story, background and what motivates them. I wanted to sharpen my skills and apply them to help people reach their goals.
3. What do you hope to accomplish in your role at the Chamber?
I hope that this opportunity enriches me with skills and knowledge that contribute to the success and growth of the organization.
4. What do you anticipate enjoying most in your role?
Unfortunately, due to pandemic I won’t be able to interact with people as much as I would like to. It was exciting to know that I would be able to meet the innovators of the Glass City. Although we can’t engage as much (in person), I’m still excited about helping play a part in assisting with helping people's napkin ideas become a reality.
5. What is your proudest career achievement?
As the youngest branch manager in the region and all odds against me, I led my team into the most profitable year the store had seen in years. It was heartwarming to see my staff receive bonuses that benefit their families.
And now to get a little more personal...
1. Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I ate a scorpion! It tasted like teriyaki chicken...
2. What is your favorite book/movie?
I love to read, but my favorite movie is Remember the Titans.
3. What is your favorite meal?
I can eat pasta all day!
4. Tell us about some of your favorite hobbies or passions.
Traveling... traveling... traveling and I'm really passionate about traveling. Also, I love kids/youth and I believe it's so important to mentor, uplift and encourage them to follow their dreams and see the world.
