Hafner Florist is celebrating 25 years of business in the Toledo Region. Opened by Dan and Beth Hafner in 1992, the local flower shop boasts a team of top tier talent. The company has been a member of the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce all 25 years of their existence.

Entrepreneurship duo Beth and Dan originally met working at Ken’s flowers and in 1992 decided that they were ready to start their own shop. With the help from family and friends, their vision became reality and they opened their first location on Harroun Road.  Over the years the flower shop has also had a presence on Airport Highway and recently consolidated into one shop on Main Street in Sylvania.

Beth and Dan are very proud of their expanded location in Sylvania, which allows them to have a storefront, an expansive design studio, warehouse space for rentals and a showroom. “The showroom really gives our clients the ‘wow factor’,” says Beth. “We are able to showcase the vision of our designers and bring to life the ideas of clients for their special moments.” When asked about the impact of social media on the business, Beth encourages clients to check them out on Facebook and Instagram, and says that their designers love to work with clients that have an idea of what they want. She particularly likes Pinterest because clients and designers are able to collaborate in a really unique way.

One of their favorite aspects of the business over the last 25 years is their staff. They currently have twenty-two employees, and are proud of the longevity of their staff. Many employees are second-generation, which adds to the extended family feel. Several of their employees are currently in college, which Beth and Dan agree comes first. However, if their student employees are able to come back and work over long weekends, or breaks, they always have something for them to do. “Our work is never boring,” reflects Beth, “I can’t stress enough how creative our team is.

Sourcing local is important, however they do source flowers from all over the world to cater to the needs of their clients. Fariest Flowers, Vittori Flowers and Barnswallow are just a few of the local vendors that they gather flowers from. Many designers also use their personal gardens for arrangements and they often visit the Libbey Factory Outlet for vases and other glassware.

In their 25 years, Hafner Florist has earned numerous local awards and national recognitions, including the coveted Best of the Knot award for eight years in a row. In 2017 only 2% of the 300,000 local wedding professionals listed on the Knot have received this distinguished award. They’ve been inducted into the Knot Hall of Fame and received the Wedding Wire Couples Choice Award. The Toledo City Paper has selected Hafner Florist for their Best of Toledo issue and in 2017 the company was named Sylvania’s Retail Business of the Year. These accolades come as no surprise with the top tier talent that the Hafners have on staff. One of their designers, Judi, has decorated the White House for eleven years and taught at the Hixsons School of Floral Design. Also, the creative legend that is Keith Brooks can be found at Hafner’s.

Being from Toledo, the Hafners are committed to giving back to the local community. They often donate raffle items or flowers to local charities like the Mercy Foundation, Toledo Opera Guild, the Area Office on Aging and the Alzheimer’s Association. You can also find the staff doing demonstrations at the Sylvania Senior Center and the Alzheimer’s Association on Reynolds Road. They are excited to see the growth of the downtown core and enjoy decorating events on the many rooftops and at venues throughout the city including Hensville, TheToledo Club, The Renaissance Hotel, Inverness Club, Toledo Country Club, The Pinnacle, Stables, Manor House and the Botanical Gardens. They also travel to set up events in Michigan, Bowling Green and beyond.

Hafner Florist can help you make a memory for every occasion. From full scale wedding design to the perfect new baby arrangement, they have something for everyone. In addition to gorgeous floral arrangements and rental options, stop by the shop on Main Street in Sylvania to browse their selection of keepsakes, sympathy stones, jewelry, home décor, cards and more. You can also book a designer from their staff to come to your home or business to decorate for the holidays or a special occasion.
