Jewel, a native Cleveland resident, came to BGSU looking for a career that let her showcase her bubbly and charismatic personality. She completed her undergraduate degree in Communications with a minor study in Journalism last August (2018), and has since wasted no time, jumping right into getting her master’s degree in Media and Communications. She is expected to complete her master's degree this coming August (2019).
The driving force behind the communication focused career was rooted in a class she took in high school, with a communication professor who helped her find her passion. She has also found that she really wanted a career that let her engage and work with other people. She finds a great deal of value in building connections with the people she meets. When it comes to future career goals, Jewel’s five year goal is to be working possibly in a PR firm or in a broadcast news role. Her ideal job would be working in entertainment broadcasting, and E! News would definitely be her dream position.
This summer, Jewel will be joining the TRCC as one of the summer interns, and her main focus will be developing a diversity and inclusion strategy for the Chamber. She is so excited to get started with this opportunity and she is most looking forward to learning more about the Toledo area and what makes it “home” to so many people.
One final fun fact about Jewel is that she LOVES lemons! So much so that she eats them just like a regular orange.
We are so excited to have her with us this summer!
