By: Riley Steinbock, Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce Intern Summer in the City presented by Dana Incorporated and Owens Corning kicked off a few weeks ago with a party at Holy Toledo! to watch the world famous Toledo Mud Hens. Our kickoff was a huge success with one of the best turnouts in the history of the program, with just over 180 interns in attendance for the game. Summer in the City (SITC) is a unique experience for summer interns, co-ops and new employees to network and explore the Toledo Region. The program, created and hosted by the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce, started in 2015 as a way to help interns build networks and show you what life would be like if you call Toledo your hometown. This year, SITC has over 250 registered interns from 22 different companies across the region. The program offers a variety of opportunities for interns such as a social event series built for networking and forming relationships and a professional development series with sessions that aim to teach young professionals valuable skills that they may use in their future careers. We are looking forward to more of the Summer in the City events in the coming months. The social series continues with events such as the T-Town Dash, Maumee River Cruise on the Sandpiper, and a Killer Queen Concert at Promenade Park. As for the development series, we have upcoming sessions covering the Predictive Index, Emotional Intelligence, Charting Your Career Path, and LinkedIn & Interviewing Skills!
