At the Toledo Chamber, we'd like to introduce our newest staff member, Accounting Specialist Katelynn Mount! While we aren't yet meeting in person – though we hope to be able to do so soon – we would still like to introduce Katelynn so you can get to know a little bit about her, her background and what she'll be working on here at the Chamber. Please enjoy this Q&A and welcome Katelynn to the Toledo Chamber! |
I graduated from Wauseon High School in 2009. After graduation I attended Urbana University where I was a student athlete and majored in psychology. After college, I returned to northwest Ohio, where I worked as an administrative assistant for Butler Capital Advisors in Perrysburg. After learning more about the field, I started on a new journey as the assistant to the treasurer, accounts payable, for my alma mater, Wauseon Exempted Village School District. In my spare time, I have worked part time for a local restaurant, Tiny’s Dairy Barn, managing, organizing and running local events and fundraisers. In the middle of all the craziness that 2020 had to offer, I moved to Maumee and I could not be happier with the path I am on and where my experience has brought me.
2. What brought you to the Chamber?
This past year I was able to focus on my personal growth. I believe that this time was a great time for me to find out what my true passions are and what drives me each day to achieve my goals. TRCC offers this, not just to the community but to the members of their team. When the position was presented, I knew that this is something I wanted to be a part of as my values aligned perfectly with TRCC. Not only do I get to be a part of a great community, but I also get the opportunity to be a part of a team that feels passionately about the community and the businesses that make it up, just as I do. When looking at my future, I can see opportunities to learn and grow my knowledge of the Toledo Region, and meet a lot of great people. I am very excited that through this position, I will benefit personally and professionally. I always welcome growth in any way possible.
3. What do you hope to accomplish in your role at the Chamber?
I hope to bring my experience in software conversions and streamlining processes on board. I am excited to use my collaboration skills by working with others on the team and work towards processes that allow the accounting team to work even more efficiently.
4. What do you anticipate enjoying most in your role?
I look forward to challenging myself to new things. Starting a new position is always a little nerve wracking, however I look forward to the opportunity to learn and develop my skills further, in accounting/finance and networking. I can’t wait to learn from people with more experience. I also look forward to eventually meet everyone that I will have a chance to work with! The culture here at the Chamber is something that I have wanted to be a part of for a while and I could not be more excited!
5. What is your proudest career achievement?
I was able to run lead on going almost completely paperless and implementing browser-based systems in two of my previous positions. Although going from paper to fully digital can be very hard and sometimes frustrating, it provided a learning experience for everyone involved. It is very rewarding when everything falls into place and it goes smoothly. Not only were we able to save time by streamlining processes and eliminating the daily paper usage, but we were also able to stay better organized and save money! That is always a win!
And now to get a little more personal...
1. Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I am an only child, the youngest in my family and the only person that is left-handed on both my mother and father’s side. I was also ranked a “Top Rookie” in the nation for collegiate bowling!
2. What is your favorite book/movie?
My favorite movies are the Unbreakable trilogy by M. Night Shyamalan.
3. What is your favorite meal?
My favorite food is Italian.
4. Tell us about some of your favorite hobbies or passions.
I enjoy kayaking, camping and being on the river. There is something so peaceful about floating down the river with a few friends, listening to music. I love to travel even if it is just a weekend trip. Going to concerts is also another hobby of mine! Big or small, live music is something I am looking forward to soon!
