We'd like you to get to know her a little better through this Q&A. Learn a little more about Stephanie, her career and what she enjoys outside of the office.
Let's get to know Stephanie...
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am a local gal, born and raised in Toledo and am a UT graduate. I have a wonderful fiancée, an amazing 8-year-old daughter, and an adorable black lab named Leo. My initial professional background was in early education, for many years as an administrator, until I moved to consulting fellow administrators on financial practices, operations, licensing, quality, and leadership. A few years ago, I decided I wanted to take my professional experience further, so I began working on my master's degree. In December 2022, I passed the SHRM-CP exam and in May 2023, achieved my MBA from the University of Toledo in Finance and in Human Resource Management.
What brought you to the Chamber?
As a consultant for early learning administrators, I would refer individuals looking to open their own centers to the Chamber for their small business development and financing needs. Becoming a Financial Counselor for the Small Business Development Center allows me to have a greater impact by not only directly helping the individuals I had been referring to the SBDC, but also broadening my scope of counseling for business success across other industries.
What do you hope to accomplish in your role at the Chamber?
I hope to use my experience and skillset to support and guide those looking to build their business, watching my clients succeed from the ground up.
What do you look forward to doing in your role?
I look forward most to building great relationships with clients, learning from them, and then imparting the knowledge they need to make their business successful.
What is your proudest career achievement?
I am a state-approved ECE trainer and am proud of designing and leading multiple training series that have progressed my clients’ leadership, profitability, and sustainability. In the last year, I have observed my clients make business decisions based on those trainings that have moved them from a deficit to a profit and then instituting policies and procedures that ensure their sustainability.
And now to get a little more personal...
Tell us a fun fact about yourself:
I have a passion for music, have played bass guitar and piano in a band in the past. I am also a huge hockey fan-Go Wings!
What is your favorite book or movie?
I love the Harry Potter and Nancy Drew series. I share a birthday with Harry Potter (an important detail shared consistently throughout the books), and since the books came out when I was around that age, I felt like I grew up with Harry. I also love a good mystery, and the Nancy Drew series (and computer games) were both entertaining and empowering when I was growing up. As for movies, one of my favorites is Jurassic Park!
What is your favorite meal or food?
I could go for Mexican any day, every day. Tacos and queso dip are my favorite!
Tell us about some of your favorite hobbies or things you are passionate about:
I am very passionate about running and completed my first half marathon. I am currently training for another, and still deciding on trying for a full marathon or a triathlon next year. I love spending time with my family, especially playing board games. I also love to travel—this year I have been to Hawaii, Georgia, Ireland, the UK, and Montana.
