The Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to host the Toledo Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and not only is our SBDC team an award-winning one, it's also growing! While we look forward to formally introducing you to the SBDC's new marketing counselor, Sean Moore, in person at one of our upcoming events, we'd like you to get to know him a little better through this Q&A. Learn a little more about Sean, his career and what he enjoys outside of the office. |
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was born in Massachusetts but grew up mainly in Florida in a small town called Okeechobee. I have spent much of my professional career working in and around the world of marketing. I have served as a marketing director, strategic marketing consultant and now a marketing counselor! I have always enjoyed the puzzle of figuring out how to connect people with their clients.
What brought you to the SBDC? What inspired you to pursue the job?
Working for the Chamber and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is a bit of a homecoming. I have worked for the SBDC in both Florida as well as Kentucky. Working for the organization has always been one of my favorite stops professionally, and when I saw the opportunity to return, I jumped at the chance.
What do you hope to accomplish in your role at the SBDC?
I hope to spend most of my time helping clients to better understand the options that exist to connect their business with potential clients and customers. Sometimes that is understanding who their client is and what problem they are solving, other times it’s understanding how to best use social media or a website to position themselves in the market.
What do you anticipate enjoying most in your role at the SBDC?
I have always enjoyed the teaching aspect of working with the SBDC and I look forward to leading classes and connecting with an audience again.
What is your proudest career achievement?
I once studied and passed the Senior Professional of Human Resources exam. Hardest thing I have ever tried to do professionally!
And now some personal questions...
Tell us a fun fact about yourself, or tell us about a unique talent you have.
I can tell you it isn’t singing! And so can anyone who has ever heard me attempt to do it. I did spend about a decade of my life working in radio, though, playing the songs of people who can!
What is your favorite book or movie?
I don’t really have a favorite movie. But I do always seem to stop on either Jaws or Apollo 13 when I run across them on TV.
What is your favorite meal or food?
I like a nice spicy chicken pasta!
Tell us about some of your favorite hobbies or things you’re passionate about.
I love all things New England sports. The Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins! I may have grown up in Florida, but I remain a northerner when it comes to my teams!
