How did your service prepare you to be a business owner?
My service in the Air Force has given me a lot of skills and values that I have been able to transfer into my business such as leadership abilities, communication skills, instilling a hard-work ethic and how to work as a team.
Veterans have core values that have been instilled in them by serving in the military. I take those values and implement them into my daily business practices. Acting with integrity by doing the right things day in and day out, living a life of service to others by helping them with their training and nutrition daily habits and routines, and doing my best to provide excellence in my service to others.
Are there ways the region can better support veteran-owned businesses?
The support is shown by others in the small ways; engaging with their social media platforms, spreading their satisfaction with others around them (word-of-mouth referrals) and, of course, investing in those businesses as well.
What are some of your favorite things to do in the Toledo Region?
Toledo does a fantastic job of showcasing our balance between the city life and still preserving some of the natural beautiful surroundings as well. We have some of the best parks in the world. When I have the time, I love going to local parks and walking while enjoying the scenes of nature. Three of my favorites include the Toledo Botanical Garden, Oak Openings, Wildwood. The Toledo Zoo is also a beautiful attraction with over 500 species of mammals, reptiles and birds! If I want more of the city, I'll head to Toledo's Funny Bone Comedy Club to enjoy dinner and some entertainment or head downtown to catch a ballgame at Fifth Third Field, home of The Toledo Mud Hens!
