History & Evolution of Pita Pit Toledo & Downtown
For nearly four years, the University of Toledo Pita Pit location has been a welcome addition to the restaurants surrounding campus. Opening in 2012, owner Kate Dake shared, “We knew from Steve's years of managing Pita Pit Bowling Green that the students at the University of Toledo had a huge interest in Pita Pit and on their weekend trips down to BG would ask ‘when are you opening one by me!?!’” When the trio found a great space directly across the street from campus they knew it was time to open the first Toledo location.

Customers immediately began asking “do you deliver to Downtown?” After careful research and considering everything from hiring extra drivers to a food truck, Kate, Tom and Steve decided that the best customer experience came from having a physical location close by. Kate reflects, “In order to do our customers justice, we found a fantastic spot in the Warehouse District, in the shadow of 5/3 Field and decided to plant our roots in Downtown Toledo.” Opening their doors in March 2014, Pita Pit Downtown is excited to be a part of the growth and development Downtown. They have had a huge success at both UT and the businesses community surrounding Downtown.

Community Involvement
Pita Pit Toledo and Downtown are UT Athletic partners as well as Mud Hen Marketing partners. and participate in as many community based events as they can, especially in Downtown Toledo with events like the March for Babies, the Komen Run and in the past, PRIDE. “We are happy to be a part of the Chamber community now!”
