Pioneer Industrial Systems was founded by Toledo Region native Todd Hendricks Sr. in 1998. Family owned and operated, the company designs, builds and supports industrial automation and it has become a global leader in providing equipment to all major tire manufacturers.
Hendricks Sr. graduated from the University of Toledo with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While attending college, he was also fortunate enough to work full-time in the electrical controls field, which provided him with a well-rounded skill set. After graduation he worked for a local machine shop for ten years; working his way through engineering, sales, and eventually becoming President. In October of 1998, Hendricks Sr. started his own company: Pioneer Industrial Systems, with a focus on engineering and custom design/build solutions.
Pioneer Industrial Systems is an Authorized FANUC Robotics Integrator and uses leading edge technology paired with engineering expertise to create solutions for manufacturers, both large and small. A large portion of the business deals with the tire industry, plus they look to help local manufacturers with their automation challenges. Says co-owner Todd Hendricks Jr., “We constantly hear stories about how companies are struggling to hire for all their open positions. We firmly believe that both large and small manufacturers can quickly benefit from automation. Pioneer Industrial Systems can help spot opportunities for automation, design a solution, present a quote, and complete the project, so you have a turn-key solution that just works.” Currently Pioneer employs 40 full-time staff and are looking to continue to grow.

As a family owned business, getting involved with the community is incredibly important to the Hendricks. They are involved with the Chamber on a variety of levels, including working with the Export Assistance Network to increase their international trade, and get involved with the international business community by joining the Export Success program sponsored by the Chamber, UT and RGP.
Todd Hendricks Jr. is an active member of EPIC Toledo and is a member of the Advisory Council helping to expand programming into western counties of the Toledo Region.
Pioneer Industrial Systems is also involved with CedarCreek Church, University of Toledo Center for Family and Privately-Held Businesses, Advanced Manufacturing Consortium, Williams County Economic Development Corporation (WEDCO), and the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB).
