Every two years, the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce updates its public policy agenda to reflect the issues of concern of the membership. The process is comprehensive, taking into account the results of member meetings, expertise from committee members, and an understanding of the issues generally impacting the business community in the region.
The public policy agenda is meant to serve as a guide when working with our elected officials at the local, state and federal level. It is not meant to address every issue facing the business community, but provides a starting point for the many conversations that take place during the year. The agenda also gives legislators and other policy makers a general sense as to where the Chamber may be on particular issues. However, just like in your business, details of proposed rules and legislation matter. The Chamber’s professional staff, working with the policy committees, carefully examines proposals and makes recommendations about action the Chamber should take on a particular issue.
Over the next several weeks, we’ll be taking a closer look at the issues ranging from taxes to transportation that are included in the 2019-2020 public policy agenda. With nearly 20 years of experience, he has held positions in state government in the offices of the Ohio Lt. Governor, Ohio Auditor of State and Ohio Treasurer of State. He also worked for the late U.S. Representative Paul Gillmor and in the Office of the Vice President of the United States. |
