This information is provided by the Ohio Department of Insurance.
The Ohio Department of Insurance has a program that can help employers learn more about Medicare, but maybe even most importantly, help transition those soon-to-be-retired employees into Medicare.
Through educational materials, a toll-free hotline, and on-site and virtual counseling and outreach, such as the popular Welcome to Medicare and Medicare Check-up Day events, OSHIIP provides essential Medicare coverage insights to help people meet their medical and budgetary needs.
OSHIIP is currently holding its free and unbiased virtual and statewide in-person Medicare Check-up events that run through the Medicare annual open enrollment period, Oct. 15 to Dec. 7.
During the events, participants will learn Medicare fundamentals, what's new, how to review their current plan and compare plans for 2023, prescription drug coverage options, and ways to save money. The events are presentation-only until Oct. 15 when plan comparisons and counseling services become included in most events.
To find a listing of events in or near your community, an on-site schedule, which can be sorted by date and county, is available at www.insurance.ohio.gov, where you can also find a listing of virtual events. The virtual events will be recorded for online viewing. The events are subject to change.
Overall, from the basics of when and how to enroll in Medicare, to the nuances of helping someone determine if their preferred medical providers and facilities are in-network and if certain prescription drugs are covered, OSHIIP covers it all. OSHIIP can answer questions about:
- Medicare health coverage for seniors and for people under age 65 with disabilities.
- Medicare eligibility, enrollment, and coordination of benefits.
- Medicare prescription drug plans.
- Medicare Advantage managed care plans.
- Medicare supplemental insurance.
- Financial assistance programs for people with limited income.
- Long-term care insurance.
- And more.
