At its regular meeting at 4 p.m. on Nov. 12, Toledo City Council is expected to vote on Ordinance 381-19, which would repeal the city’s current lead-safe housing law and enact a new one. The ordinance would designate the Department of Neighborhoods & Business Development, instead of the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department, as the enforcing entity. It would also expand residential rental properties included in enforcement to those with one or more units, instead of only those with up to four units. An amendment is expected to be offered that would create a Division of Rental Registration and Lead Safety within the department, and require registration of rental properties with the Lucas County Auditor’s office, among other provisions.
Council is also expected to vote on the following items:
  • Ordinance 526-19 which would approve the appointment of Wendi R. Huntley to the Tax Board of Review for a term expiring November 12, 2021.
  • Ordinance 535-19 which would approve an agreement with Columbia Gas of Ohio to allow it to pay for its right of way permit fees in bulk for a five-year term for an annual lump sum of $350,000. The agreement would also settle existing claims of damage to infrastructure within the right of way.
Council is expected to give first reading to Ordinance 536-19 which would authorize a 10-year property lease agreement with Arms Dock, Inc. for enclosed storage of the city’s bulk salt in an existing building at 1900 Summit Street. Arms Dock would be paid in annual payments of $105,000. The bulk salt is currently stored along the Maumee River near downtown where the new Nautical Mile Project will be completed.
All Council meetings are held in Council Chambers on the first floor of One Government Center located on Jackson Boulevard in downtown Toledo.
