Toledo City Council to vote on capital improvement expenditures

At its regular meeting at 4:00 p.m. today, Toledo City Council is expected to vote on several ordinances that would make expenditures for projects budgeted under the 2019 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) plan recently approved by Council. These include Ordinance 110-19 which would approve $125,000 for snow and ice brine equipment, Ordinance 111-19 which would approve $425,000 for the gas collection and control system at the Hoffman Road Landfill, and Ordinance 113-19 which would approve $200,000 to repair HVAC systems in city facilities.

Council will also likely vote on expenditures for the 2019 sidewalk improvement program. Ordinance 108-19 would approve $800,000 in budgeted CIP funding and $448,000 derived from property assessments, and Ordinance 97-19 would approve $1,250,000 in additional CIP funding. Total program funding would be $2,498,000 if the ordinances are approved. 

Council is also expected to vote on the following: 

• Ordinance 95-19 which would approve the appointment of Council President Matt Cherry’s nominee Thomas Baird to the Tax Board of Review for a term expiring March 5, 2021. 
• Ordinance 96-19 which would approve $144,300 in CIP funding to Westfield Technologies for audio/visual system equipment and installation for Council Chambers. 

Council is expected to refer Ordinance 2-19 back to the Administration. The ordinance would approve a lease to Crestline Paving and Excavating Co., Inc. for nearly 9 acres of the former Champion Spark Plug site at 750 Montrose Avenue. Under the agreement, the annual lease amount would be $1, and the initial term of the lease would be for five years with one five-year renewal option. ​

All Council meetings are held in Council Chambers on the first floor of One Government Center, located on Jackson Boulevard in downtown Toledo.
