Today the Toledo Public Schools Board of Education reviewed and unanimously approved the district’s re-opening plan for the 2020-2021 school year. The plan includes a three-tier color category system developed to determine how district operations will occur related to the status of the COVID-19 pandemic:
- Green – In-class instruction will occur five days a week.
- Yellow – Classrooms will be split into group A and group B. In-class instruction will occur Mondays and Thursdays for group A, and Tuesdays and Fridays for group B. Instruction on days not in class will be virtual.
- Red – Virtual instruction will occur five days a week.
The school year will begin under the Red category with the delayed start date of September 8. Face coverings will be required during the school year by all staff, and by students in grades 3 through 12. Face coverings are encouraged for students in grades pre-K through 2. All school athletics will be suspended until at least October 1. Students will have until August 8 to be registered for the option to receive all-virtual instruction for the school year via the district’s Virtual Academy.
