Among the more than 30 Small Business Development Centers across Ohio, our local SBDC received the Ohio SBDC Performance Award for the Best Overall Performance by a Center. This award takes into account various statistics from the fiscal year, including jobs created, jobs retained and business starts, and is awarded to the highest-performing SBDC based on the size of the program. “This is an acknowledgement that the Toledo Small Business Development Center outperformed all the centers throughout Ohio,” says Bill Wersell, vice president of business development services at the Toledo SBDC. “It verifies the hard work and dedication to our community of the staff of the Toledo SBDC.” During this fiscal year, the Toledo SBDC worked with 364 clients; a near 14 percent increase from 2018. “The northwestern Ohio SBDC team, while grateful for the acknowledgement, has always been focused on the financial success of the client,” Wersell says. “We look forward to continuing that service.”
The Development Services Agency of Ohio aims to promote a strong and supportive atmosphere for small business throughout the state. Between developing a marketing strategy, providing a variety of workshops and training programs, analyzing local businesses’ capital, engaging in one-on-one counseling services, and more, the Toledo SBDC works hard to create the environment small business owners need to succeed in northwest Ohio. “I look forward to continued growth for our center and our clients. Every one of our clients is a unique person working hard to better themselves and our community,” Wersell says. “Helping to guide them to financial security through owning a small business is very satisfying work.” |
