I was born and raised in Toledo Ohio, I am a mother of 5 adult children and a grandmother of 9. My background is in community outreach, social services and patient advocacy for the past 20 years with the last 5 of those in social determinants of health. I am a certified financial coach and credit counselor, and a University of Toledo graduate.
What brought you to the Chamber?
My past roll as a financial coach I had the pleasure of collaborating with members of the SBDC and other business training programs that served the Toledo area. I found that my love for the City of Toledo and my passion to help community members lead me to take my passion of uplifting individuals with personal financial health to the level of successful entrepreneurship.
What do you hope to accomplish in your role at the Chamber?
I look forward to all the new knowledge and growth I will achieve by being a part of the SBDC and using those skills to give each one of my clients a positive and successful experience.
What do you look forward to doing in your role?
I love meeting and interacting with people and the community leaders. This is going to be one of the things I look forward to most.
What is your proudest career achievement?
Being a part of a social determinants of health this is where my mindset took a turn in a direction that helped me understand myself, why I do what I do and what my purpose is. When you get to the point in your career you do not feel like what you are doing is a job. You made it.
And now to get a little more personal...
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I was given up for adoption at birth and in 2018 after years of searching, dna testing and finally obtaining my original birth certificate I was reunited with my bio family. That is the very short version of a very complex life that I feel shaped me into a great human being. I also have 2 rescue dogs Oliver and Franklin, please always consider adopting animals as there are so many that need a loving home.
What is your favorite book or movie?
Currently I like reading bio’s and holistic awareness books, but if I have to absolutely say a book that is my favorite all time. The Twilight Books by Stephanie Meyer. I actually read the entire series not once but twice.
What is your favorite meal or food?
Lebanese cuisine is my favorite. Thai coming in a very close second.
Tell us about some of your favorite hobbies or things you are passionate about.
I love anything to do with art, if it’s a gallery showing, I’m there, if it is taking a class of some sort, I’m signing up. If it is in a theater, I am buying the tickets. I also love to travel and make a point to go someplace new twice a year. I think it is very important to go outside our comfort zone learn true history of places and things and experience different cultures.
